Escuela Rural Pargua
Daniela Andrea Garrido Soto, she is 26 years old, she studied at
The San Sebastian University in Puerto Montt.
Her likes for teaching started when she was a girl because she liked teaching her dolls and also she enjoyed being in class. For that reason she decided study English Pedagogy,
She performed her first practices at the Chileno Norteamericano School and a Private Institute: The Wall street. Then she found job at Escuela rural Pargua doing classes from 5th grade to 12th grade.
In other hand she says that at the beginning of start working as a teacher was difficult to control the discipline in a class but she received some advices and support from different schools and teachers and then all was easier. However, she says that she was not really prepared to face the labour work when she left from the university. In fact, she was not prepared to take responsibility.
Her first experience doing English classes was a little unpleasant because her practice teacher had not course's domain and her didn´t speak in english during her classes.
After, working for first time as a graduated was easy for her to acquire self-confidence, because she started in a private institute where she taught to a few students, maximum four students per class.
Her fair when she started to work was not be at the level of her own vocational expectative and make her students waste their time.
Although she had some bad professors she took those examples to be totally different but also Daniela had great professors that contributed with her decision of be a teacher.
For her nowadays the most difficult of be a student is to have a teacher that doesn't leave her/ his own troubles in the house, be inflexible and not to be aware that the emotional and cognitive differences of each person at the time to evaluate or do an activity. Also a great teacher has to be reflexive and self-critical. At the end of every class the teacher should do a feedback about the contents’ practice, and the way of treat with the students. Moreover it is important to have a binnacle.
. Some strategies from her for misbehavior are: tasks in groups or individually and call their attention for their names.
Her opinion about the English in Chile was that it isn´t enough valued and not supervised. The authorities do not have control of the teachers that are doing bad their work and not give the tools to the students to learn how to communicate in English.
About the future
Daniela is thinking to study English literature and specialize in methodology.
