Practical tips:

When I started my practice I could observe that my guide teacher used to settle rules using marks. For example: if the class started good she puts a seven on the corner of the white board, then according the time passed and if they were misbehave, she started to reduce the mark and they started to say no. no miss, so it was a really good strategy to maintain the class tidy.

Ask them if they have all the materials that they will use in the activity for example show me your pencils or copybooks. It is a good strategy because I asked them in a test and some of them did not have pen to do it.

Call them by their names when they are playing up, because immediately they pay attention and they be quiet.

Make body movement to express what I want to say in English, sometimes to act.

I tried to give clear instructions showing them how they have to do it or a student as a model.

Learning experiences:

Not to do classes only of grammar contents and use just sheets and the white board to write structures and then students write it in their copybooks, it is so boring for them , so I did classes with interactive resources with cards , colors, songs and role plays .

Not to try to put yourself in the same level as students are, because you will lose respect from your students and they will treat you like a friend.

Each student has different realities so you have to be careful in what you are saying to not injure any of them. Also if you observe that some of them is depressed you have to talk with him or her because this show that you are aware of them and you will construct a strong relation with each student.

Make everybody to participate in the class because they will lose afraid of use English language, they will notice that they can do many things and improve their personality.

Talk about things outside the school like experiences because they will show them that they can trust in you and you are aware of them in the school and of their own lives.
